Aspect Ratio 18:9

Hello there, we are back with a new one this time, sorry for big delay. Smartphone screens are innovating sensationally in last 7-8 months. Companies are working on improving their screen quality every day.  They keep on changing the ratios; they keep on changing the dimensions. They keep on changing the materials used in screen. Every company wants to come out with new screen, so as to get better resolutions. Now when we talk about the Aspect ratio of 18:9, it’s been a sensation, it’s been a trend setter. Lots of facts are there why this ratio is beneficial and it can be an innovation or the change we were expecting to happen.

Good things don’t happen overnight, they take efforts, time, money, sweat, etc. such is also the story of smart phones with Aspect Ratio 18:9. Okay, then it all started from Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Well initially they were not called with a screen size of 18:9; they were like super amoled screen with big display etc. As soon as this screen type got popular, we started calling it as Aspect Ratio 18:9. Market was expecting something in Smartphone screens, and this particular type is successful in giving it.

Best part about this ratio is it gives taller screens with reduced bezels on top & bottom. Mostly this is available in 5.2 to 5.7 inch screens. Maximum of apps these days are available in vertical form. So if screen size is taller than it is a great experience to use those apps. In fact one of my favorite app Instagram is also vertical to use. Next benefit is VR, in older 16:9 ratio VR streaming was not that fit to our size and dimensions of eyes. Now why we feel that it is not fit, because now we have seen ultimate experience of VR in 18:9 Aspect Ratio.  Horizontal length of phone is less, so it is easy to carry and hold the phone. Moreover the phones are becoming slim, so there one of the risks, that by slipping from our hand they can fall down. Most important streaming a movie  or a video, or playing Games will be an ultimate experience, in this type of screen. I mean it can increase our addiction rate.

Happy Fact

I was very much happy to know an interesting fact about this ratio. It is nothing, but it follows simple theorem of Pythagoras. It is simple Pythagorean relationship between sides and diagonals. Well how interesting this fact is, it s like ok there is a big screen, it’s fun to use, that’s what we will do, but one of the thing which we studied formerly is used today that makes me happy.  If the size is 5.5 inch then, it would be 4.7 inches tall and 2.8 inches wide.

Few of you might think that the topic chosen is very odd to write on, but it’s not odd because, in next 1-2 years every company will come out with bezel less display and in an Aspect ratio of 18:9. Well for all this Samsung is responsible, due to their biggest Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8+.

Speaking seriously I love the company Samsung, because I love their innovations, example: curved phones, screen ratio of 18:9. No doubt in it why they hold some large amount shares in market.
